Geotechnical and Environmental Consultants was founded in
1991. Our staff of professional engineers and geologists,
field engineers and engineering technicians collectively have
hundreds of years of experience in geotechnical engineering,
engineering geology, construction observation and materials
testing in Northern California.
We
have conducted geotechnical, geologic and environmental investigations
and provided construction observation and testing services
for projects that include:
- commercial
and public buildings
- residential
developments
- pipelines
- roadways
and bridges
- water
and wastewater treatment facilities

landfills
- power
plants
- dams
and levees
Typical
geotechnical investigation/design services include evaluation
of soil, geologic and groundwater conditions; and preparation
of recommendations and specifications addressing grading,
foundation type and design criteria, pavement construction,
and surface and subsurface drainage.
Construction
services include observation and field/laboratory testing
of embankments, foundation excavations, pavement components,
reinforced concrete and drainage facilities.
A
significant percentage of our experience has involved investigations
and construction observation for projects in the Coast and
Mayacama Mountain Ranges. The steep terrain and complex geologic
conditions in those areas requires a high level of expertise
and the practical application of sound engineering judgement
to design and construction problems.
We
have completed thousands of projects in Sonoma, Napa, Lake
and Mendocino Counties. This experience has enabled us to
develop a good working knowledge of the soil and geologic
conditions in the area and an understanding of the performance
of projects after construction.
Our
environmental projects have included; Phase I & II Preliminary
Site Assessments for commercial, residential and industrial
projects; soil and groundwater monitoring programs; and design
and construction of impermeable liners for landfills, reservoirs
and wastewater facilities.
The
relevant project experience of our principals and personnel
includes projects performed by RGH; our former subsidiary
company, Hidalgo Associates; or with previous employers. These
projects include geotechnical investigations for pipelines,
pump stations, wastewater treatment facilities, and quarries
in Napa, Sonoma, Lake, Alameda, Contra Costa and other counties
in California, as well as projects in other states and countries.
